They are  custom laminated with a non-glare laminate on the front, and a write-on / wipe-off laminate on the reverse.

The back of each placemat features learning exercises based on the front.

For example, on the reverse side of the World Map placemat, the map is blank so children or adults, can write in the names of the countries, etc.
